Thanks for this extremely informative video. I'm using coco coir pellets seed starting system for the first time with heirloom tomato seeds. Your video made me feel like I might have a chance of success 👍😊

The peat pellets have a fine netting on the outside that remains and don’t decompose in the ground by the end of the season ...

Absolutely love it. I have always started my seeds in a peat or core mix but have never used the pellets. I actually bought two this year to try. thank you for the great video and information

I use the same system you are showing, however, this year at Walmart I found Burpee's SELF-WATERING seed starting system.I picked up two of the self-watering systems and so exciting to try them.I also use 72 cell trays and just add my own seed starting mix.The heat mats are great along with grow lights.

MG Scott, thank you and great point with making sure you identify the cells and orient the tray. It also helps with determining the germination rate. I thought you already started your pepper plants, no? Thank you the education on how most seeds are hydrophobic. I initially had my seeds in a moistened paper towel and placed that inside a plastic container. The issue that I had was that I had it on top of the heat mat; and based on this video, I realized that the seeds probably dried out which is why I had a poor germination rate. Thank you very much

I had some of these things in an alien seed kit I got when I was young, it had some gourds, amaranthus and something else I can’t remember, was really fun growing them 😁

I started with the Jiffy pellets years ago and it's a system that still works. For starting basil, the peat pellets have worked better than starting them in a seed starting mix in plug trays. Write the plant name on a small piece of masking or painters tape and put that on the top edge of the tray. Making a grid on paper is a good idea especially when there are multiple varieties within the row.

I've never used those- I always did it the messy way in recycled yogurt cups.... But I want to try a more neat and hopefully consistent system with my nieces... Thank you!!

Hi Scott, I have some of these which I haven’t yet used before, so this is a really great video for me to watch. I will give them a go when it’s time for me to start my seeds - still too early here in UK, probably start in March as I will be doing them in my unheated greenhouse 😊

I do my seeding the messy way. I totally get the fact that they are a lot neater to work with.I have used the peat disks and find that the mesh that it is enclosed I does not fully break down enough to let the roots out.

I loved your video I've never used the product that you were showing. I do want to and I'm going to buy some and I'm going to plant flower seeds and put the top on put them under a light like you showed and see what happens usually I wait until after the last frost and then I sold the seeds in a pot outside but I want to try something different. I live in Houston Texas is pretty hot down here all the time but in a couple of days they're predicting we will have snow we haven't had snow in at least 4 years any kind of snow. Thank you for the video have a great evening.

I buy the pellets on Amazon a big bag of 100. The nursery also has them cheep in bulk. After years if different systems, I've stuck with this one. No the netting doesn't break down but haven't seen a problem with that.

I've got all my seeds in coir pellets this year. Just so easy and I find my germination rates brilliant.
Tomatoes peppers and aubergines currently at 100%

some home stores in the flooring dept, with door mats have Boot mats, to dry muddy/wet boots. Might serve well as a surface to contain the soil mess.
