Sorry to hear this Alex, in the tech industry too and often heard stories like this. I have been a fan of your videos as you were a great help to me when I moved into my own home. I often share your videos with my peers when they are looking to upgrade their home. Sorry I'm not a frequent commenter on YouTube but I just wanted to show support here. Thank you and I'm looking forward to the awesome content coming up!

Best of luck! I was laid off in my 40 last year from a hospital mass layoff 180 ppl. This is a huge hospital and I was with them for 3.5 year. I'm a medical provider and never though I would be laid off. But fast forward 1 year anniversary which was 2/1/25, I have never been happier now with my current job. All things happen for a reason and best of luck in your next journey!

Been following your channel for a while. 40+ and also laid off just last month. Fellow sgrean in Pharma industry. Using employees’ livelihoods to balance the books are normalised.

You have a great charisma. Take the opportunity to expand your channel reach. Best of luck!

Congratulations Alex. This will be the best thing that ever happened to you when you look back down the road! Your current knowledge, exposure and experience in content creation if you monetize it properly will eventually 10x or even 100x your job income!

I volunteered for a retrenchment exercise about 5 years ago, after spending 8.5 years in that company. It was the only company I've ever worked for. I was 33 at that time, and never looked back. There are so many opportunities to do the things you like while still making sufficient $. I am sure things will get even better for you!

Im the same! Laid off in my 40’s a couple months ago. I dont know whats next for me with all the ghost job listings but i have been channeling my Creative side. Im cooking, im fixing the house, planting, conceptualizing a business, catching up with my aging mother, volunteer at my child’s school. Just about everything i thought i wanted to do while i was at work, now i have time for! Good luck and hopefully we get an update on your next venture!

One door closes, another will open. My company was also going through layoffs last year overlapping to this year. I gather more people may get their retrenchment in another few mths again. Anyways I'm always prepared . I have savings that will last me a long while as well as rental income. Never put all your eggs in one basket. I have seen too many sad situations of people "trusting" their employers. You are your best and only supporter. Be prepared always for bad times.

Sorry to hear about the layoff. Where the old company lose out we gain with you being able to generate more content for the individuals who enjoy your channel. I got laid off awhile back and it took me over a year in industrial tribunal to get the money owed to me. Good luck in the future and keep up the great content.

Appreciate you sharing this. I’m sure that transition came with a mix of emotions even if you’re staying cool on the outside. As someone building a space for folks navigating layoffs, I just want to say, this kind of openness matters. You’re helping normalize the reality that even great talent in solid roles can get caught in these waves. Here’s to whatever door opens next 😊 rooting for you!!

You are only 40. Plenty more years to go. I am 61 and still in Tech Industry. Having been lay off for more than 4 times in my 30+ years of tech career. Just move on.

Wow thanks for being so candid and vulnerable. For some people, it is always hard to be talking about job losses

Just came across this. The fact that you took time to build this channel shows a certain level of motivation in life. A bit of a shame here with this current tech climate, but I am sure your attitude will take you far regardless of the environmental factors

Sorry to hear about the layoff man. It's been rough on us in the industry. Hope there will be an opportunity that vibes with you in the near future.
