Reverberation time of a balloon pop: reverb room vs. anechoic chamber

Listen to the difference in reverberation time of a balloon pop in a reverberant field versus an anechoic field. This footage was taken during an acoustical tour sponsored by Sound Advice/Ecore International in Lancaster, PA October 2014.

So a balloon in the anechoic chamber sounds like a COD hitmarker.

Definately a "Wow". We were having a discussion on the different ways we perceive noise with suppressed handguns.... this shows some what we are trying say about shooting in a basement range vs shooting outside in a field.

Just the last 3 seconds looks like a movie trailer for a thriller about an old man living in the woods feeding on small children, and just when the screen turns black you can see him spotting a few kids playing outside his house.

I couldn't go into one of those chambers for more than thirty seconds, probably. Just the thought of hearing your organs moving around, being hyper aware of your own breathing and/or internal bodily sounds is super unsettling. Torture chamber.
