Don't forget the grease zerk on the deck lift pedal for units without hydraulic lift.

I would also recommend to make sure the zerks can take grease. I recently purchased a new X350 and found that the front axle pivot point did not want to take grease. I jacked up the front end and found that the front axle was extremely tight and took considerable force to pivot. I've never encountered this on any of my other JD lawn tractors or my JD compact tractor. I loosened the pivot nut slightly and the axle now pivots freely and the zerk takes grease. I'm not sure why the dealer wouldn't have noticed this during the PDI as I thought they were supposed to grease everything prior to delivery.

I find the john deere deck spindles are a sealed bearing but also have a grease fitting but not much good on sealed bearings

As far as the spindles buddy you need to walk back to the shop (apparently your the sales person) and talk to your mechanics. You will find out that the spindles have a rather large central cavity which will take a lot of grease to fill which will do nothing as the bearings on either side of it are sealed bearings so basically you pumping grease into an area which will not let the grease get into the bearings and will eventually be putting pressure onto the bearings wanting to try to force them outward which they will not be able to do. I guess it’s going to be trying to force the seals into the bearings more and more each time. All I know is you need to find out what’s going on first. I do agree with the other three spots that need greasing though. The used tractor that I bought the previous owner apparently never greased the center front axel swivel point so it’s froze up on mine and even with a hammer type grease booster for opening plugged grease fittings will not get it flowing so now the front axel needs removing and worked on to get it to accept grease.

Get a 45 degree nozzle adapter for your grease gun. Those spindle zerk fittings are tough to get to and the straight nozzle got stuck on me. Had to disassemble the entire spindle to be able to pull off the grease gun and avoid damage. X380

You do know the ones on the deck do nothing you're pumping grease into an empty cavity it never reaches the bearings

If it is a JD you must grease it and replace the seat. If a twig hits your hood you will need to replace that also.

Are the bearings in the mower deck spindles sealed?

I had my mower and didn’t grease it for 3-4years. Ouch. Glad I learned how to do it before it was too late

Ok... My father bought his tractor (G110 25hp) in 2004 after his previous one blew up with leaves catching fire under it and growing up, I've never seen him put grease on it...

Do you have to grease it once you buy it new or does it come greased already? John Deere X350

How often does one need to grase their mower? How many hours of use do you recommend, also will the terrain of your yard affect this?

Dont grease johndeere spindles. They use sealed bearings in there spindles. So unless you have pulled the spindle apart and removed the bearings inner seal all your doing is pushing the seal into the bearing. I dont know why they even put the greese zert on them.

it would be VERY helpful if you can actually demonstrate it instead of talking and pointing at the spots, including in your Youtube vids, thanks
