I use a satin base coat and glitter paint to achieve the look. I also share with you my thoughts on the whole process.

I would suggest adding extra fine glitter to semi gloss paint(hobby lobby) 1 2 oz container per gallon.
You'll get a glimmer look without looking tacky.
