When I first watched the pilot, I was hesitant to dare say that there could be something romantic which would be going on between Aika and Zira. Then I listened to this during the outro and my hesitation vanished. Definitly gay. And then people in the comments who saw the extra content made about this actually confirmed it for me.

Having the intro be animated adds so much to the atmosphere and unironically adds a lot to this character dynamic. I could even see this changing over time if it where to become a full series with characters disappearing, being added or changing depending on the state of the story. Either way though the vibes and song are peak.

I never noticed what was happening here until now. Shooting stars appear, and Aika points for Zira to look at them. But Zira just keeps staring at Aika (probably because they consider her more beautiful than the shooting stars, teehee) until Aika turns to face them, at which point they quickly pretend they were looking at the stars the whole time. That's cute.

I adore how this song feels like its from the perspective of both Aika AND Zira. "Moon and the stars" referring to Zira (moon logo on her hat) and Aika (star guardian) respectively is great. "All of the stars in her eyes" also referring to Aika's love for normal everyday life and simultaneously Zira's passion for magical girls and stuff is amazing. "She doesn't try" referring to how Zira is super smart but doesnt apply herself and Aika with her burnout with the magical girl gig. And "I wanna try" showing how they bring out the best in eachother. So much depth in such a short runtime. Amazing song.

I feel like you could interpret this song two ways. Both girls are singing this independently in their minds about the other. “She doesn’t try, no she just exists, and all the stars in her eyes bring me bliss.”

Zira has dreams and a vivid imagination, as well as an ordinary life, which Aika lacks. Aika has magical powers and an extraordinary vibe, which Zira lacks. Both of them complete each other, and just by being opposites and becoming friends, they’ve already started bridging their gaps.

Someone earlier said that this song erased all doubts of gay from their mind as soon as they heard it. Same goes for me. I also am curious about Eclipse’s story, since he seems to like Aika??

Anyway, I’m stoked to see more of this series!
