My Top Gear Picks

In this video we're working on a new butter trick the back 180 nose butter to cab 180 out. This is a fun butter trick you can do anywhere on the mountain and I'll break it down into five parts. This way you can work on each part separately and then bring them together to get this new butter snowboard trick. The first part of this butter trick is the ollie. This sets up the trick and gets you balanced. The second part is the backside 180. When working on the backside 180 it's important to have a level takeoff and landing. The third part of this snowboard butter trick is the switch nose press. The best place to learn new presses is on easier and more mellow runs. The fourth part is the switch nollie. The switch nollie is what you'll use to help finish the butter trick. The final part of the butter trick is a cab 180. Cab is a skateboard term that means switch frontside. Once you have all these snowboard tricks mastered you can bring them together to for the butter trick. I found that this snowboard butter trick was a lot easier and I stayed more balanced by keeping my knees bent. For more snowboard trick tips check out the snowboard trick playlist. Thanks for watching!

First off, nice to see a beginner go through the tricks he’s learning and breaking it down so people understands what he’s trying to do, or in this case what he’s doing.

But as is always the case when you’re new at something the terminology can get a bit confused. So let us go through a few things: That is not a switch nose press.Think of switch as pretending you are regular if you are goofy and the other way around and fake as just going backwards, so that would make it a switch tail or possibly a fakie nose. See the difference?

Same thing with what you call a switch Nollie, it’s a switch Ollie or a fakie nollie.

Next up, the cab 180 or Half cab as I prefer to call it. Is a fakie backside 180 not a switch frontside 180. I can hear some kids in the back of the class going, ”-what the h-ll is he talking about?”. But think about it, now that you know the difference between switch and fakie you quickly realise that it comes down to which foot you stomp down to make the ollie motion, which in this case will be your normal rear foot. So in the video we see a switch fs 180 and not a cab 180 or half-cab.

I hope I made some sense.

keep up the good work Kevin.

In skateboarding the cab is a fakie back side 360, and there also is no switch nollie, just a fakie Ollie, this trick in skateboarding would just be a backside 180, switch manual, frontside 180 out

Around de 3:20 mark you say you do switch noseride.
Isn't that a switch tailride since you just do a tailride with your "bad/wrong" foot forward?

Kevin, what kind of board are you using on this video. I wonder if this is a rocker, or camber, and how flexible the board is to be able to use these tricks, Thanks bud.

Ah, the Magic Chair, brings back memories of learning to ski as a kid lol. Looking a little patchy at the bottom of the mountain, still good snow at the top?

Hey Kevin. What kind of wax do you use for warmer conditions? Thanks.

"Cab" is fakie off your tail. This would be a back 180 nosepress to frontside switch 180 out in the breakdown.

Awsm. Cab 180 is actually a switch 180 off the nose. Otherwise it's just a switch 180. 😃

Hm I have a serious question because I sometimes have a bit of trouble with butter tricks.
How much flex and weight does this board have compared to my board? I ride an agenda 161w from ride

Hey Kevin! I was wondering, do any of you guys wear protective gear? I'm an intermediate/advanced rider and debating whether to get some to be more comfortable when learning rails and things. Thank you so much!
