This is not a paid promotion or advertisement. I genuinely love this project and plan to keep playing it. Lost City, also known as 2004scape, is an open-source, nonprofit preservation initiative aimed at restoring and preserving Runescape exactly as it was in 2004. In this journey, I’ll be playing through the game and exploring the historical differences between Runescape in 2004 and OSRS (Old School Runescape).

Everything is accurate in this vid. The only difference is that back in 2004, people didn't use protection prayers in a fight. Anybody who did was called a coward and the fight would be discontinued.

The old freeze mechanic is the best, your opponent couldnt become unfrozen if you moved out of range so it allowed for different gameplay in both 1v1 and clan vs clan fights.

Pking back in the day was just completely different, nowadays everyone is high skilled, got a 500b bank and lots of weapons that almost can 1 hit you, everything is about max. efficiency... I started RS 2003, everyone was a noob back then but thats why it was fun :D

when the osrs server came back i rushed 85 magic, 80 range with smite and went pking at green drag, i actually made bank because i could just smite everyone, nobody had prayer pot, as soon as i saw someone wearing 4 item i knew that was $$$.

Ah, the good ol' days. Back when most PKers were just standard players who couldn't understand why somebody several combat levels lower than us were capable of doing three times the damage that we were doing. Pures, Tanks and specialised builds were one of those "Wait! You can do that?!" Things for us young teenagers.

Used to hate venturing into the Wilderness but sadly I had to do so a dair bit because grabbing the chaos rune spawns at Moss Giants was my "best way to get chaos runes" at the time. Used to aim for between 40 and 100 per trip but often had to flee the second I saw a white dot on the minimap.

Thay soon changed when I became a member though and was spoilt with opportunities.
