Python in Excel! Part 6 - Using Python to restructure data! 🐍🤩

Guys. I tried. I did. Honestly.

I really tried not to turn this into a Python tutorial. Buuuut... there's only so much "press this button to get that candy" we can talk about before we start to ask ourselves:

- Why bother using Python?
- What's the point?

Or before we convince ourselves:

- I can do this with a formula
- I'll stick with Power Query

I mean yeah. You could. It's definitely doable. LAMBDA and dynamic arrays mean there's very little you can't do.

But there are some things that are just SO much easier with Python.

Let's look at a challenge posted last year by Wyn Hopkins regarding expanding a range of Ticket Numbers.

At the time this was a perfect opportunity for LAMBDA, so I created a generic solution called STACKER which has proved useful over and over again since then.

If you haven't watched the STACKER videos yet and you're interested in advanced LAMBDA solutions which have nothing to do with Python, please take a moment to watch the videos linked in the comments.

Anyway, in this video I have a go at solving the challenge with Python.

Knowing the kind of data we often see in Excel, I have a feeling this is going to become your new best friend.

Your "explanatory videos" are already an exception. Understandable, even for me as a beginner, and they make me want to see / learn more and learn Python.

I love working with both Excel and Python and been doing so for decades now. Py integrated Excel is awesome, and it will open up so many possibilities. Can't wait to try it on my M365 beta channel as the feature is yet to show up. Thanks for the video and subscribed!
