One issue that you might not be aware of when buying a new smartphone is the aspect of network locking. My name is Jess from SimNeverlock and today I will explain what is a carrier locked phone and why do carriers lock phones at all?

To begin I will explain what is a carrier lock. A carrier lock is a software lock inside your phone’s operating system that makes it connect and read sim cards from a specific carrier only. This means if you have a Verizon locked iphone, you can not use a t-mobile sim card with it.

But why would carriers do this? At the end of the day we still sign a contract that we have to pay off for months. So why would they sell us locked devices which can only be used with their sim cards. Well there are a couple of reasons, and I will explain them to you.

First one would be obvious, pricing. When you buy a phone from a carrier network, the price of the phone is significantly lower than buying it from the manufacturer’s shop. To be able to offer such good prices, carriers have to make sure their customers stay loyal to them and continue using their services. This reveals the second reason why carriers lock their phones which is competition!

There are so many carriers offering amazing deals on new phones. This makes people decide to switch between carriers very often. A locked phone will make this process harder. Which points to another reason: Expensive unlocks

Nowadays people are very connected to their phones. Imagine a person having to leave their phone in a shop for a couple of days to get it unlocked. They would rather go with the same carrier than bother being phoneless for a week just to get it unlocked. On top of that the phone unlocking can cost over hundreds of dollars.

DISCLAIMER! Not every phone can be unlocked with SimNeverlock! If your devices is banned/blacklisted, stolen or does not meet the requirements of unlocking from your carrier, it is nearly impossible to unlock it.
