REACTING TO GUCCI X BALENCIAGA (a logo nightmare)

Gucci's Fall 2021 collection was a "hacking" of Demna Gvasalia's Balenciaga collections. I still don't know what a "hacking" is but, it pretty much was a way for Gucci to adopt Balenciaga's styles, signature silhouettes, handbags, shoes, and logos and combine them with Gucci aesthetics and tropes. Alessandro Michele's Gucci wasn't totally washed away though, as the Gucci monogram was in full effect. References to Guccio Gucci, the brand's founder was seen in "Savoy Club" text. The famed Horsebit style was given a BDSM remix with the help of Alessandro as well. And oh so many nods to Tom Ford's revamp of the brand. Overall, the nods to Gucci's history were combined with Balenciaga-isms according to Demna. I won't say it was major, design wise, but in the context of two major luxury houses of this size working together, it was nutty!
