I have this habit of seeking out interesting covers of my favourite songs. "The Book of Love" became one of my favourite songs during a tearful viewing of the final episode of "Scrubs". It was, quite simply, sublime; there is no other word. And although the Peter Gabriel version used in this episode is a cover of the original Magnetic Fields recording, I consider Gabriel's recording an emotional masterpiece and the standard to which I compare all covers of this song. And FWIW this recording by The Dutch Tenors is now my second-favourite rendition of this incredible song.

My favorite version of this song by far is the one Peter Gabriel does on the "Scratch My Back" album. This version is included in the film "Shall We Dance?" with Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere.
