Haul from 2019 Houston Quilt Festival

Just chatting in my sewing room about my haul from the 2019 Houston Quilt Festival and SO great to meet all who came!!

We went to the Festival for the first time. As we drove from Indiana (2 days) we also hit up San Antonio for a couple of days then went to Houston for two more. Yes, it takes at least two days to see everything. I saw everything I needed to see, but I didn't stop at 1/2 of vendors and I didn't linger and study every quilt. I made a vow to not get fabrics, except for some Turtle Hand stuff. I did get the same mombo large thread cones from Connecting Threads. White and Cream. :) Some other threads and stuff for my new Featherweight.

I have used the Connecting Threads thread.  My Viking machine does not like it but my Brother machine does. Go figure. Also, I have used my Steady Betty for years and love it.  It does make a difference in pressing. I love gizmos and gadgets so thanks for sharing.

Gizmo and gadget girl here as well! Love my Steady Betty, wool mats, cutters, rulers, you name it. Would love to get to the Houston Quilt Festival! Even the pros makes mistakes and have boo boos, they just edit it all out. I'm sure you were awesome!! Good to see that hubby is doing so much better! Great sense of humor!

New camera working great - very clear and great sound. I love gadgets too. My kids always said if I got lost, they would head to "gadget department" to find me! LOL

Regarding the very large spools of thread you showed... Is this a polyester? If so, would you please share your opinion about using polyester thread with cotton fabrics? A book I read when beginning to learn about machine quilting mentioned polyester thread (being stronger than cotton fibers) could, eventually, cut the cotton. The quilts I make are not heirloom quality, so I am not hoping they will last 100 yrs...The cotton thread does seem to cause quite a bit of fuzz in machine. But I have been unsure about using polyester. Thanks for sharing with all of us :)

Oh my goodness please be careful with that ring thread cutter especially if you have an itch on your head or if you put your hair behind your ears that you don’t cut your hair. Your videos are quite informative. Thanks.

My California cousin came in and rode the bus with us on Saturday. My poor husband was our packer... lol 😂 ❤. I missed the $5 thread at Connecting Threads! Had to turn my volume up to hear this video, but love the haul!

There's a quilt/craft show this month in my area (Pacific NW). Can't wait to look for those gadgets! After getting my last Designs in Machine Embroidery, I need something to perk up my spirits 😭

Hi Becky, I am looking fwd to see your houston lecture..how? I loved the charm pack you won. I really want to go to Houston next year for my first time. What bus trip did you go on and how to find out about it? I’m from Melbourne, Australia also. I love ‘so Fine by superior’ so let us know how the 60Wt connecting thread goes. The video was very clear. I think I need to find a buddy or company who will help me go to Houston. I get excited just thinking about it. Loved the gadgets. Cheers
