The lyric "If I seem to be reckless with myself, it's the fault of no one, all things have a place under the moon as well as the sun" must be among the most profound things I have heard... the acceptance that one may be reckless, but everyone still deserves a place in this world, no matter how much it tries to destroy them, they are still important... Elliott truly spoke to everyone through his lyrics

It's like a disturbing junkies lullaby, it's haunted yet beautiful.

One more little one
I'll go down, stay down
Sleep the rest of the day
Dream new music to calm down
Stay down and keep evil away
I can hear you asleep
Changing your shape
Dissolved in some dream
As a new one appears
To take you along where you've never been
One, two, three, four, five, six...
The moonlight tonight seems to belong to me
'Cos even though some can't sleep
They need some company
One hit wouldn't hurt a bit at all
Slow down sleep
What's there to fight?
If it's good shit you won't know
And I won't know the fact that I'm dying
If I seem to be reckless with myself
It's the fault of no one
All things have a place
Under the moon as well as the sun
One more little one
I love you

This is one of his saddest songs, even though musically it sounds very whimsical and beatles-esq. It's just clearly about heroin.

If it's good shit you won't know, and I won't know, the fact that I'm dying. **saddest bass fill there ever was**
If I seem to be reckless with myself, it's the fault of no one.

Gets me every time. This song is, to me, is about lost hope and giving up/giving in - accepting your sad fate. Through the use of obvious drug metaphor. Beyond the point of struggle. You stop struggling when you lose hope, so he sounds almost content/resigned. Like a terminal patient in their final days. Eerily sad. It reminds me of The Last Hour in that regard. Another really, really sad song. Both off the charts beautiful.

I'm approaching 34 years old, and I've had a tough go, but the last 8 months or so, random fortune has turned things around. Having destroyed my twenties, I feel like I'm just starting. I wish Elliott didn't see things as though they were ending. His final album is such a masterpiece, I'd love to hear 2021 Elliott. He had a bit of a fascination with electronic music production based on a few songs and interviews. It'd be cool to hear that influence his music possibly... Imagine Elliott on Twitter? lol. Seems so weird... Anyway....

This is sooo beautiful. ❤️ I know people compare Elliott to the Beatles, but the Beatles managed to write lots of bad songs as well as great ones. I don't think Elliott could write a bad song if he tried.

This is like I'm so Tired, Long, Long Long, You never gimme your money... It's like none of them, but somehow sounds like all of them. The bass notes are so Paulish.

It's honestly better. He was a more well rounded songwriter than anyone. The ones who revolutionize are always the revered ones, but Elliott was a master. He had the Beatles intuitive musical sense, but was also very technically proficient, something none of the Beatles were, relatively speaking towards their contemporaries. He could out drum Ringo, out guitar George and John by light years, out bass Paul, out piano all of them.... Maybe didn't have as technically skilled voice as John or Paul though. Anyway... Elliott was a fuckin prodigy songwriter.

The song is about Valerie Deerin, a Scottish girl who was caring for Elliott when he was struggling to get off heroin. His nickname for her was “Little One”. I believe this song is about sneaking a hit of heroin (chasing the dragon) in the middle of the night while she’s sleeping. Maybe she was monitoring his usage or he’s getting a bit dope sick and cant wait till morning. He doesn’t want to wake and disappoint her and it’s the only way he can sleep so he quietly does it and is hoping to at least dream of some new music.

An amazing idea and amazing production. It's like being encased in a heavenly bubble where you can bare your soul in the presence of a loving spirit.

Ringo Starr was asked about Elliott and he said " He listened to The Beatles "
And it shows no more than it does here.

Even though it's a very dark song, that last line it's very beautiful.
