KATARINA
1976, had just finished college, [RDC] Rodesia Capital College. Getting a job at Duly motors wasnt easy, but not as difficult as it was to get enrolled at RDC, especially if you were black. I was different. I was handsome, tall and fluent. That got me into places where my father would not be allowed. He (my father) knew for sure that he could not change my skin color but could cheat via the queen's language. He made sure that, not only my english would be clean, but my accent too. Sorry, this story isnt about me, its about Cathrine. The girl who ddnt like her name, she chose Katarina instead. At first glance you would think that her whole being was about looks. Nooooooooooooo. Looks were half the story, for me it was her brains.
The first day we met is still memorable. I was in my work suit, waiting for the workshop to open. She stood there in her natural hair, looked at me as if she was about to ask a question. From nowhere, a genlteman said, "Shamwari munovhura nguvai", ...............
