Well Dick Dale is half Lebanese and probably half English American, and he heard this song at family gatherings, just as in the same way that Ritchie Valens heard the traditional folk version of "La Bamba" at family gatherings and made a popular rock version of it back in the '50s. So I don't know maybe Miserlou is actually Lebanese or could be Turkish as you say it is. I know that it has a Mediterranean feel to it so it fits in, in Greece, Turkey and Lebanon either way.

Guess I was off on that one. I was going by last name, sounds English. Then again I had a teacher who was from France and his last name was Dale so maybe that's French but I do believe you when you say he's Polish and Belarusian. One of my fave tennis players is Belarusian and her name is Victoria Azarenka aka Vika.
