Raghav's Take | Mamata Banerjee vs Arvind Kejriwal: And the Winner Is… | The Quint
Показать описание
Two stormy petrels and current CMs — #MamataBanerjee and #ArvindKejriwal — are exerting every sinew to break the voodoo and emerge as 'first among equals' in an Opposition cohort that hopes to challenge PM Modi in 2024.
In this episode of Raghav's Take, The Quint's Editor-in-Chief Raghav Bahl explains that Mamata scores on seniority and political heft. She's a battle-scarred veteran with relationships with 'swivel politicians'. Kejriwal is a junior, lightweight politician. Hardly commands currency with “swivel group”. But he's popular with urban youth.
But, Mamata is seen as a 'Bengali' neta. She can rouse a rabble in Bengal but is hobbled in creating that resonance in the cow belt. On the other hand, Delhi has freed Kejriwal from the boundaries of a state. He speaks in English and Hindi, which makes him a 'pan-Indian' figure. Of course, all of this could be much-wasted labour of love, because hey, who says there’s a vacancy in PM’s Office in 2024?!?
