I saw the "Lisa can you teach me japanese" explanation somewhere it said :
When talking about Asia people only think about few countries like Japan Korea and China and Lisa is from Thailand which is basically non existent to many people in the west so when people see Lisa they ask her to teach them japanese indirectly implying that Lisa was seen as from the typical Asian countries ( ie Japan Korea or China )
