Biden Unveils New Tariffs on Chinese Imports

President Joe Biden unveiled sweeping tariff hikes on a range of Chinese imports, in an election-year bid to bolster domestic manufacturing in critical industries. Biden is raising levies on semiconductors, batteries, solar cells, and critical minerals, in addition to previously reported increases on steel, aluminum and electric vehicles. He spoke at the White House.

Countries must avoid solar panels from China.
Besides security risk, Chinese solar panels are from the Xinjiang region, where they are produced by:
- coal-fired plants and
- using Uyghur forced labor in their production.
