Hear from Scott Cook, Hot Tub Expert at American Sale, about the best foundation types for your hot tub.

This video walks you through the best foundation types for your hot tub. It’s an exciting time to be considering a hot tub, but before you buy it there’s another exciting thing to consider- where you are going to put it! We recommend three different foundation types for your hot tub.

1) Concrete Slab: It is important that your concrete slab is level and is at least 4” thick with a 6” base underneath that. When measuring out for your concrete slab make sure you take into consideration any accessories that you may be putting on that slab, such as spa steps, a bar, a grill, a gazebo, patio furniture, etc.

2) Pavers Bricks: These are very easy to use, but make sure you have a solid 6” base underneath them as well, they are level, and they are solid bricks.

3) Wooden Deck: This will require some more work from a contractor or someone qualified to make sure the deck can support 100 lbs. per square foot.

4) Spa Pad: This is the most affordable option, although not the fanciest. Our Smart Deck is made by Leisure Concepts and is customizable interlocking pads that connect to allow for any size needed for your hot tub base.

That’s it! Some great options for you to consider as the base for your hot tub, but the most important thing it to be sure the base is a on a flat, level, solid surface.

I just had a 1000 sf patio poured last summer. It *might* be 4" thick but I'll bet it's closer to 3". I don't want it to crack under the weight. In my mind, spreading the weight across 12' 4x4s or 4x6s would distribute the weight across a wider area (plus give a base to build a surrounding step up deck). Is this ever done? I don't want to create more of an issue.

Hello.
I inherited an 2001 Caldera Tahitian spa. It lives outside on my deck.

I need to replace a leaking euphoria jet; let’s hope this is the last leak to repair.

My question is do you have any suggestions on the best way to insulate the spa’s shell, the bottom and the pipes in order to keep my electric bill low during the winter months? I want to try to create some type of insulation technique, like the way they insulate the exterior of a new home.

Thank you for your help

Im planning on pouring a slab for my hot tub. Im putting a floor drain in. My concern is the electrical hook up. Does it usually come from the bottom, do i need to run conduit through the slab. It is going to be directly next to my house.
