I really like the pan to Thomas' friends & their expressions as they hear that Thomas not only helped them escape the maze and then convinced them to leave the WCKD compound, but was actually sent into the maze as punishment for trying to save them before. Even without his memories, Thomas just wants to protect them.

It follows the parallel that Teresa did the same thing, just towards the rebels.

In this clip Mary says “you said you couldn’t keep watching your friends die” this then clearly shows that Thomas was friends with all of the people in the maze before they were put in. There are scenes in the maze runner movies when Thomas is a child going on a train with others. This means they all were together for about their whole childhood. Thomas was working of WCKD because he was one of the smarter ones, same a teresa. And in the scorch trials teresa says to Thomas I remember when we were kids, I was taller then you and faster. That’s when WCKD was giving her, her memories back. Thomas has been friends with newt and Minho since forever, they just don’t know it.
