Many experts predict the Atlanta Hawks will have a terrible season next year. That’s a problem because they don’t control their next 3 first round draft picks. This is a look at what the Hawks’ problems mean for Trae Young and Atlanta’s young talent.

The Hawks at #3 passed up on Luka Doncic just like The Suns #1 Kings #2 and Grizzlys #4.
Doncic had to be a Top 3 Pick because of the salary, a #5 Rookie Contract couldnt match what he made at Real Madrid.

The Hawks never picked Luka for basketball reasons, they just made a Deal with Dallas and picked Luka at #3 just so they could get Trae Young but not only get him, but also save some Money on him because his #5.

At the time Dallas got the Player they really wanted and believed in him so much that they didnt care about #3 or #5 Rookie Salary.
The Hawks also got the Player they really wanted only cheaper.
And Doncic made the same amount or maybe a bit more than what he would've made playing in Madrid during his rookie years.

-Trae Young wants to stay here, everything about our draft picks this year and trade acquisitions show that the Hawks have decided to move forward with Trae (the addition of defensive guards and wings, as well as added center depth). Mark my words, defense will not be a main issue for this team.

-Trae has already chastised NBA media for these rumors and reports

-The 2021 Conference Finals run was not a fluke, Trae Young had an injury, and that 2021 team was a good team, the trade and acquisition that followed next year were an overreaction to the Miami loss

-Jalen Johnson is untouchable, and surprise, as of now so is Trae Young

-And most controversially, the Hawks have a better team than most people believe, THIS year. The Hawks will be a low playoff team, with an incredibly deep bench on paper (other than the guard position). They have finally realized what they need to do to build *around* Trae, and have moved accordingly. He does not get traded. If there will be any change, it’ll be around their Center spots, and I even doubt that.

I was so frustrated last year when all the talking heads and "plugged in" goofballs were talking about the Spurs wanting to trade for Trae. The Spurs require two things: Get over yourself and give effort on D, neither of which Young possesses. They might try him out if they can get him for cheap, but Pop and RC would never trade 3 picks and a player or two for that dude. There's no way they trade Atlanta's '25 pick.

Spurs trade the '26 swap and the '27 pick and try Trae out for a year? That sounds good. If he doesn't work out, sign and trade him again or let him walk.
