Singapore is country #5 for our travels so far! We're excited to explore this amazing city and see what it has to offer 🇸🇬 What neighborhood do you prefer - Arab Street or Marina Bay?

Fun fact: Marina Bay Sands sits on fresh water. It is separated from sea water by the Marina Barrage. The fresh water reservoir serves as a storage area for drinking water before they are treated. The planning took decades before it came into fruition.

The main merlion sculpture itself is an artwork. Need some aesthetic repair every few years as it's constantly exposed to the weather otherwise it will degrade itself.

Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the lotus shaped Arts & Science museum was designed by Israeli architect Moshe Safdie. He also designed the iconic housing building with a garden in the sky called the Sky Habitat. You can go up to this sky garden...free...and see the city of singapore from a high vantage point.

I like his pretty accurate cultural knowledge of Singapore. He has done his research. By the way official language of chinese is mandarin. This is because Chinese includes other Chinese dialects like Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Hakka, etc. Singapore does not officially recognise these dialects as the only official written Chinese language is Mandarin (although Cantonese does have a written form). Again there is a reason why singapore chose Mandarin and not the other Chinese dialects.

Merlion is under maintenance. To keep everything nice clean working, we do maintain it. We try not to look at profits etc as many does then lack maintaining. Welcome to my country Singapore

Here's an interesting fact: the black portion of the structures, just below the golden domes of Sultan Mosque, are actually glass bottles donated to the mosque for its construction.

Moshe Safdie the architect of Marina Bay Sands and The Jewel Changi Airport. The Merlion had some cracked so they restored it back and it's already open yesterday 09/12. It's the most beautiful city to me at night especially the waterfront.

Aaaw sorry you missed the big Merlion. But fun fact, the small merlion actually was the 1st merlion put up long ago, even before everything you see in the area was put up

Just for infor. Sg has 4 official languages. English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. Most singaporeans can speak English. Malay is spoken by the Malays, Mandarin is spoken by the Chineses and Tamil is spoken by the Indians. Being a multicultural country, most people can speak more than one official languages.
