I've had my eye on this Mijello Mission Gold Red Brown for quite some time. It's made from PBr25 which is a pigment not available from many watercolor brands. The only other I know of being Daniel Smith.

PBr 25 is the secret weapon behind most of Mijello's mixed pigment Earthy colors. I'm a granulation freak so I don't use it much but it's a great solution if you want transparent non granulating Earth colors. Holbein has been producing a paint called Imidazolone Brown for years using PBr 25.

I love this red brown so much. So pretty color itself..perfect for the autume leaves!! I think this is a great mixer~It makes so lovely grey colors when mixed with blue colors.

I love this. I had never seen it but immediately wondered how it would mix. I always want to try mixing everything. Never know when there will be a wonderful surprise.

I`ve tried this pigment from Renesans intense watercolors, it`s called Brown Madder, it`s beautiful color and maybe even more intense than your swatch, but too staining for my liking. By tone I would rather compare it to my Schmincke Transparent Brown Pbr41, than to Schmincke`s Transparent Sienna Pr101.. but still redder and I repeat heavily staining.

Late to the party here, but just swatched out (new to me) 24 mijello pure pigs.
Love this wet, it looks like Georgia red clay 😁. I would kick it up with a dash of red to see if i could achieve the wet color richness.
What did you end up doing?

I don't work with my Mission Golds that much, so I'd love to see a video of you mixing the Red Brown with a variety of colors. I like the Red Brown more than the Burnt Sienna because Mijello's Burnt Sienna is too weak for my tastes. A big difference between Mission Gold and Daniel Smith, Lukas and Rembrandt is that you can pour DS, Rembrandt and Lukas into pans and they dry fully. Mission Gold, Sennelier and M. Graham do not fully dry when poured into pans; even after months, they stay sticky due to the honey in their paints.

I would experiment - in fact, that's what I do. I love trying and comparing different brands and colors.

Btw, I paused this video to mix my Mission Gold Red Brown with Ultramarine Deep. I got a variety of dark greys from rusty to cool, and I'll definitely be using these two colors together for greys in the future.

that's quite the drying shift. i was just about to ask which one you think it's similar to lol but i kinda know what you mean. when i swatched it out on my dot card, it kinda felt like a quinacridone to me... too transparent for an earth for my liking. i guess you can do a comparison vid with all your current earth reds and another mixing video? i'd be interested in both :D Shinhan PWC has the same pigment, so does their student range, both called Brown Red.
