We took a trip to the Angeles Crest Highway to play in the snow.

In the winter, when it rains in Los Angeles, it likely snows in the Angeles National Forest. Driving up along Angeles Crest Highway is about an hour from downtown Los Angeles, making it the closest place go for snowplay.

As you drive further up, there are lots of places along the side of the road where you can pull off and play in the snow, but we went Eagles Roost Picnic which was pretty popular.

There's a wide open area to play in, and some great views of the mountains.

Later on, we explored some of the other small places along the highway. If you can get up there within the first few days of snow, Angeles Crest Highway is a quick and easy drive to experience a winter wonderland.

I was up there Dec. 17th myself. I went all the way up until I came to the close gate going to Wrightwood.
