At the Google I/O 2018 we saw a prototype of Google Duplex. An addition to the already incredible Google assistant. This is a game changer for sure. It takes artificial intelligence to a whole new level.

Google Duplex seems to have passed the Truing test. The Turing test, developed by Alan Turing in 1950, is a test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human.

Watch the video, let me know in the comments what you think.

Duplex is cool, but for it to pass the turing test it must engage in a general conversation with a human, where a much greater range of questions must be answered convincingly. Duplex can only be convincing when it operates within its narrow field of functionality that is setting up appointments, which is not enough to pass the Turing test.

The Android P gestures video would be a good one, thanks

Passing the Turing Test does NOT mean merely doing well in
one-off competitions. You could also argue that the human must be consciously tasked with figuring out if Google Duplex was a machine.
The out come would be different wouldn't it?
