It's not a 20-minute drive to Waipio (unless there is a car accident). More like a 5-minute drive. Honestly, the older homes are better because they are usually bigger. Yeah, it's about a 20-minute drive to the beach, so no flooding from storms to worry about since your house is not close to the beach

I grew up in waipio about 100 yards away from kipapa elementary school during the late 40s and early 60s in what is now mililani. It was a great place to grow up. There was a lot of open space although most of it was pineapple fields. There was an abundance of guava trees, passion fruit, and mango trees . Along a little ditch which was constantly flowing. Back in those days we kids did not have much to worry about as far as being safe from crime.
