To further this idea, you can technically make a plane that adjusts its centre of lift/pressure. Usually that is done with swing wings, but with this method it is also possible to adjust the centre of mass/gravity.

imagine using this as an abort sequence, like, when your going to crash into the VAB but you get l o n g then parachute down with the eva parachute
