LYRICS (Written by, The Lumineers, BMI):

I've been trying to do it right
I've been living a lonely life
I've been sleeping here instead
I've been sleeping in my bed,

I've been sleeping in my bed

So show me family
all the blood that i will bleed
I dunno where I belong
I dunno where I went wrong,
but I can write a song

I belong with you, you belong with me
you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me
you're my sweet

I don't think you're right for him
think of what it might have been if you
took a bus to Chinatown
I'd be standing on canal
and bowery
and she'd be standing next to me

I belong with you, you belong with me
you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me
you're my sweetheart

And love, we need it now
Let's hope for some
Cause oh, we're bleeding out

I belong with you, you belong with me
you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me
you're my sweet

I remember that every time the song said “hey” or “ho” my dog would bark as a puppy. He passed away today and I wanted to listen to it as a memento. There isn’t a song out there that’s made me cry as much as this.

Edit: Thank you everyone for your support! I was out of town when I got the news, but once I got home his brother helped me deal with the loss. We are both alright, but every now and then it's clear that both Popi (my dog) and I both miss our furry little buddy, which is okay. It's important to cherish the moments we have with our companions. Please refrain from arguing about religion, as everyone regardless of their beliefs mourns when someone they care about dies. The existence or nonexistence of an afterlife doesn't change the fact that we are on earth now, and we should enjoy the time we spend with others.
Stay safe and stay hydrated!

No joke I’ve been searching for this song for 7 years. 7 years and I finally found it today. 7. Years.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows this song. Even if they don't know or remember the name, it's deep within everyone, like a primal instinct. It's just human nature.

I heard this last night on the radio and it made me feel okay, and okay is something I haven't felt in a long time.

6 years ago I tried to take my own life.
I was only 23 at the time, but I was doing a chef apprenticeship and was disillusioned because I had realized I made too many mistakes in my life to turn things around.

Fast forward 6 years, I’d finished that apprenticeship but left the chef life behind, along with the alcoholism and daily self-inflicted injuries like casually slicing my fingers and rubbing salt in them just to keep myself awake.
I can’t say I’m doing any better now, since all my friends are getting married and moving on with their lives, and for me, I’ve barely made it this far.

But someday, I hope I can find out how it feels to be loved, and to be proud of myself.
Not today, but someday.
And if I can do it, you sure as heck can too.

1, 122 days ago, i was listening to this song crying my eyes out. I had lost my childhood friend due to suicide. He was the only one that i genuinely loved, we had been through everything together, and thhe reason i was listening to this song right here, is because no matter where we were or what we were doing, he would blast this on full volume, sing every single word, it was beautiful. May he rip.

(my heart goes out to everyone who has been thru the same thing, im doing better now and so will you❤️)

This song makes me feel really complex emotions that I can't even explain. It is so beautiful. Sadness, happiness, remembrance, grief, all of it. The Lumineers are painfully perfect.

Just took my daughter to see them last night as her first concert. They did an amazing job, and I know she's going to have one of the best childhood memories of last night.

I never listen to this song for "fun" but I woke up from a vivid dream of so many of my old friends singing in harmony. It felt like a feel good movie type of situation. I still think about each one of them despite the different life paths we're taking. It's sad to watch the good ol days pass by, but the problem is you never know when you're living "the good ol days". So, to whomever reads this: enjoy the little things :). I did and I still miss it. But I don't regret anything.

This song reminds me of a simpler time. One of my friends was always walking around school with a ukulele and had a really amazing voice. One day when school was out we were all out front and he started playing this song. EVERYONE joined in and knew the words. It was such a vibe!
