Tiny penguin from New Zealand released back into wild after washing up on beach in Australia

A Fiordland penguin has spent eight weeks recuperating after a 2,500km swim from New Zealand to Australia. Now the endangered bird is being released by Melbourne zoo back into the wild

Hope he makes it back. Although not sure why they couldn't have taken him to New Zealand, as aren't they usually in groups?

So the poor thing about dies making the swim to Australia and now they just turn it lose to make the swim back?
Why couldn't they have transported it to New Zealand and released it near a colony of its own kind???
