Wouldn't be surprised if at some point, the Alpha Tauri's seat ends up being filled by Perez and Ricciardo ends up driving the red bull again

Yes it was very harsh. However, it makes sense given their situation. They wanted Nyck to have results immediately, otherwise they would’ve put one of their younger academy drivers in the AlphaTauri seat. Christian Horner himself never saw any reason to even give him an AlphaTauri seat. It’s very harsh, but he was never going to stay long unless he impressed immediately. He’s older and more experienced and yet still worse than his teammate. If he was the same age as Yuki was when entering AlphaTauri, I’m sure he’d have been given more time to improve.

If Ricciardo beats Yuki easily AND Checo doesn't finish on the podium in the next few races then I feel Checo will only last till end of this season.

Logan from Williams has shown more improvement than Nyck. Nyck is older and has been around the block, yet no team has picked him up. Every team has had the ability to make him a full driver yet didn't. He has bounced around and most higher ups at red bull didnt want Nyck

As Nick had won F2 and FE and had heaps of practice in the F1 cars, and doing well at Monza in the Williams, I did expect more from him. I actually expected he would be as good if not better than Tsunoda, yet he was constantly outperformed every quaily and race by him.
I look at how Dan was dumped by McLaren and Dan was still getting some points and did win a race for them, yet everyone said Dan was lucky to get 2 seasons with McLaren. F1 is an expensive sport and teams want and need good drivers. To me, Nick has not shown anything remotely close to being a capable F1 driver.

Big what if would be if Williams offered Nyck to partner Alex in Williams instead of getting Sargeant. He looked more at ease in all Merc powered cars he tested last year than the AT this year.

If you are 28 years old, a seasoned racer you are expected to do as much as any rookie or better. Clearly that was the standard. Yuki had the luxury of youth so the pressure was way less.

I think RB want to understand if Tsunoda is the real deal or not, nothing more, and DeVries couldn't do it.

This wasn't a same day decision. Apart from the driving Riccardo's know how will be needed to improve the Alpha Tauri car. The tyre test will have confirmed his sim work. One thing that occurs to me, wasn't Danny Alpha Tauri's reserve driver? If so I'd assume he's also driven it in the sim. I suspect the decision to put him in the car was taken a while ago, on the condition that the tyre test confirmed his sim work.

Daniel's performance in the Big Boy's RB at the Pirelli trial will not translate into success with this year's AT clown car 🤡🤡. Daniel will overdrive the pigpen AT and trouble and accidents will ensue. Yuki ain't gonna like having Daniel breathing down his neck either. I predict friction and sparks across the board..

Crazy how tsunoda drove multiple seasons like nyck, and still in alpha tauri, I feel he needs more time in the seat

Feel bad for Nyck and love the Honey Badger, but I don’t know about him back with Max. He has not done well as a number 2 driver anywhere…ever…and no one is taking on Max any time soon in any car. I think he can extend his career being number one at alpha. Maybe some podiums, even wins in the future, but put him back alongside Max, big mistake I think.

People defending DeVries forget that he's 28, not 18...He needed to be beating Yuki, plain and simple.

I feel sorry for Checo. I really wanted him to succeed but I have a bad feeling that his time is coming.

Red Bull are not going to immediately sack Perez. Despite his poor form he is currently runner up in the drivers championship which is what his goal is.

If Red Bull sacked Perez now, it doesn't matter who they get to replace him, it is very unlikely that Red Bull would get the runner up Driver champion - next season, well there is an entirely different proposition.

Did Buxton really argue Checo might go to Aston Martin alongside Alonso? Did he forget Lawrence Stroll has a son that drives there?!

Checo's form was poor in the middle of last season too. Checo was better at qualifying last season, but he tends to drop more than a few places at the start of races. Checo had to perform a "comeback" drives which he didn't have to do if he just started his race better! Why should ANY driver NOT get into Q3 when he is driving in the fastest car on the grid? Checo better improve quickly else his seat will be up for grabs soon!

10 races seems like a contract clause Helmut would make, so seems like both parties were aware beforehand

I do think this was a tough decision BUT, when you come into F1, there are a few things you are expected to be able to do. First among these is the ability to know what suits your driving style best, and be able to set the car up to that style, so as to make the best of whatever car you drive. Hulkenburg is an example here this year. Then you are expected to know how to pass other cars. You have to think in advance of the conditions you can create to pass someone. This may take a lap or two, or even more, but is key to going forward. Just driving around in a DRS train is not good enough, you have to make something happen. Then there is communication with the team. Giving accurate and pertinent information to your pit wall can enable them to help you advance. We haven’t heard all of Nyck’s radio so we don’t know the exact dialogue that took place.
These 3 things are as important as driving the car, and are expected of an F1 driver. Of course, driving fast is the basic qualification.
