Thank You for a in depth review! I have used the E 10-18mm f/4 OSS since '14 mainly for the 12mm -18mm (18 if you remove the light shield) in full frame mode for stills like Milky Ways, yes sharp stars and f/4 is no problem at night on a very dark beach at only 3200 or 6400. For landscapes and day capture you can use screw on filters but do not use variable polarizer. The good of both lenses is the 15mm in APS-C is for architecture inside 16mm is perfect and being so small an easy carry. For me I do have the 12-24mm f/2.8 but the 10-18mm is perfect for everyday carry in either full frame or APS-C for going wide when carrying the 24-240mm/24-100mm/24-70 as a primary lens. The nice thing about a Sony full frame is going to APS-C if wanted meaning a lens is forever so if you go full frame keep your APS-C lenses. Lens Corrections are great in Lr for a starting point. Lastly the 10-18 was before FF and was superb years ago no wonder the 10-20 is so good.

Hi Dustin, why do some reviewers say at a wide angle the missing OSS is not a problem in the 10-20 PZ? I normally use the wider end of my old 10-18mm for landscape and about half of my scenery shots were taken in shaded forest or low light situation. So even with A6500, I find that at f4, the shutter speed often go down to 1/60 so when doing handheld photos, some of the leaves become blurry. Even with my hand steady, when it’s on a windy day, those leaves will blur out. Can you really get sharp images with the 10-20 PZ handheld, at low light or shaded outdoor scenes? If not, maybe I should stick with my old 10-18mm? I just sometimes feel that my old 10-18mm is decentred.

You have serious mic problems, otherwise great review. Do you know if the lens can work with full frame the way the older lens could?

Great detail review! Can smart zoom be use with every lens on Sony camera or only with this lens since it as a special internal zoom? Many thanks

Hi Dustin! Great video. What would you recommend, sony 10-20mm or tamron 11-20? I'm interested strictly for landscape photography. Thank you

thanks a lot for this review Dustin! I'm curious how this lens in aps-c mode compares the 16-35pz in ff mode in, let's say, a7m4? especially the distortion etc. they are really close at equivalent focal length and same aperture, really looking forward if you could do a straight comparasion between them!

Dustin, which would you choose. The Sony 10-20, Sony 10-18 (used), Tamron 11-18 or the new Sigma?

For this camera, would you go with the Sony 11-20 F4 (because of the OSS) or Tamron 11-20 F2.8 (because of lower aperature)?

Hello, I am debating whether to get this or the Tamron 11-20 F2.8 but I mainly take photos, which of the two would you recommend?

Whatever happenned regarding weather sealing on the Sony platform over the last couple of years?
Not too long ago, there was plenty of critisism/doubt regarding weather sealing - either focusing on the body and/or lenses. I still remember people doubting the efficancy of the 'tiny' rubber seal on most lenses - especially Sony-made - but also from 3rd party vendors. Similar situation for the camera bodies - and if I am not mistaken - the A7RIV type of bodies that came out, seemed to have upped the game. Although some hardcore Nikon/Canon fans don't seem entirely convinced yet (i.e. that Sony can match their premium mirrorless bodies - let alone DSLR!)

I can't comment on the body sealing improvements made over the last years, other from what I see in the diagrams: more seals = better (?) Although I am sure it is more complicated than that

But for the lenses, that claim some moderate weather sealing, to my inexperienced eye, I can't see much of a visual difference. The rubber on most newer lenses that I ve seen, seems tiny, as it was back in the day that I purchased my a6300 and my 90mm macro

So was this all an unjustified claim by E-mount criticisers? Was there always some moderate weather sealing in place (altough inferior to the more mature DSLR bodies)? Or is the smaller diameter of the E-mount plays a negative role so that larger seals cannot be implemented on the lenses? Or size doesn't matter here at all? I m a bit confused

(My personal view is that Sony has made significant strides (and) in the weather sealing aspect. Just not sure 'how much')

As always, thanks for yet another great review Dustin! Even if I have no interest on specific lenses (as in this case), it is still so enjoyable to watch and get a thorough insight on whats available on our system!

This is one of the lenses which makes me feel a bit bad for not shooting Sony APS-C and IMHO it plays along with APS-C strengths very well. It's really small and light, image quality is excellent and the price is very competitive, especially when compared with its predecessor and similar offering for Sony and other systems. Sure there are some compromises, like distortion (which is very well corrected) and lack of image stabilization (which is less of an issue for wide-angle lenses) but there are no compromises in core areas of size/weight/image quality/price. I would be more than happy if something equivalent gets released for FF (like 15-30 F5.6) but I doubt that will ever happen.

hi Dustin, this is my humble request to all content creators using latest sony mirrorless cameras to disable the EYE PRIORITY in autofocus feature of their cameras at least in video mode. the EYE DETECT feature undoubtedly gives perception of better looking video but because sony's EYE AUTOFOCUS is so powerful and that coupled with modern lenses at wider aperture results in a video that has a very small portion of the screen that is highly in focus. this obviously looks impressive f0r stlls but when it comes t0 vide0, and especially when the subject is m0vng, it bec0mes strainful on eyes of the viewer to watch.in your videos you dont do wild movements so thankfully its easy on our eyes.
