Lol, that snake sttuck at him like he was a badass, once he realized he wasn't in danger, he chilled out real quick. But a lesson to all of you out there know what your picking up before you go grabbing a snake like that, make sure it's not venomous first...that is a beautiful snake!!

I've caught several in my life. Literally dozens, when I lived in California on the central coast. Mainly you find them in April, May, and June. They can be under wooden boards or just crawling around. I've been bitten by them dozens of times. It feels like a hard pinch, and leaves pinprick marks that disappear within a couple of days. No venom. Completely harmless. Most of them never even try to bite. Some will do a bluff strike. Usually you can just pick them up. If you support their weight and let them crawl on your arms they are no trouble.
