“Somebody that I used to know” is another good example of when this meme is used.

As someone who is God awful at identifying words in lyrics this is one of the most relatable memes 💀

Honestly, this meme really gets lost in translation for any non spanish speaking person, bc their pronunciation will be different. It's unique bc if you say that nonsense out lout with Spanish pronunciation it will sound quite close to how it would in english.

This "mistranslation" has been a gag in Spanish culture for a long time, even before the internet

As someone who lives in a country where English isn’t the first language, there’s just something about the way this meme makes me feel. It makes me feel like a little kid again, not knowing a single word of what they where singing in English songs

LIMC saying "Mi abuelo siempre me decía:" caught me extremely off guard

As a native spanish speaker
Yes that is how songs in English sound to us :(
I'm extremely fluent but I swear I can't listen to lyrics and understand them properly

I actually do miss hear lyrics alot in the MGRR OST. In stains of time, when I hear "Like a Flood of Pain", my brain tricks me into hearing "Like a Vertibrate"

Love that you are also covering Latin/Spanish-Speaking Memes. A whole memeverse that most americans are oblivious to. wenamechoinasama

this feels like the evolution of those old misheard lyrics videos for songs like The Strokes' "Last Nite" or 'smells like teen spirit', except that we've gone full circle from creating meaning out of gibberish to creating gibberish out of meaning

And this song from 2014 that I barely listened to has now hit me with a strong sense of nostalgia.

Winston Churchhill quotes are a good example of this

As a Mexican, I approve the world peace being achieved via meme culture

The fastest part to "Godzilla" has to be a good example to use for this meme.

This meme template is actually older, dating back to when System of a Down first released “Chop suey” where they sing fast and the Spanish audience didn’t understand what the lyrics said

Love that everyone universally calls it a hamster instead of a guinea pig, too. To me it just adds even more to the nonsense this meme is

as a bilingual dude, i can totally relate with English sounding wierd asf to non English speakers.

If you like checking out how english sounds to non-english speakers listen to the song Prisencolinensinainciusol. It's written by an Italian person and it's supposed to sound like English, and it's so freaky hearing something so familiar, but you can't quote understand it.

I first saw the braking bad version of this, and being extremely sleep deprived, I laughed until I cried and I couldn't breathe. My chest legit hurt but I could not stop laughing. The internet has broken me

I think we can all agree except Alolan Starboy that misheard lyrics are the best kind of lyrics.

7 year old me mishearing the lyrics in a song then finding out what the actual lyrics are years later: *my whole life was a whole lie*
