I think a major reason on why TADC’s and Helluva Boss’s writing styles differ has a lot to do with one thing: planning. When it comes to TADC, Gooseworx already had the story written from start to finish. She’s made it clear that while she enjoys the theories and fanarts of fans, she will not change her original vision for the sake of pleasing fans. She’s not going to make shipping wars and fandom drama influence her original vision.

However, when it comes to Helluva Boss, Vivziepop has confessed she had no idea what to do with Stolas and Blitzo until Brandon Rogers told her they’d make a cute couple. As a creator, you don’t have to have everything figured out for your series. However, when you have no idea what to do with the biggest plot within your series, it’s an issue you can’t really ignore.

Both shows have interesting concepts and characters that we can invest in. However, because The Amazing Digital Circus knows what it is and what it wants to tell, its story is more focused and consistent than Helluva Boss’s. This is why it saddens me that a show like Helluva Boss, that includes characters and storylines that can just be as interesting as TADC’s, are underdeveloped because there was little to no planning done beforehand.

Helluva boss has become way too predictable. Characters hardly getting development ie Loona and Millie. Too much attention on the Stolitz storyline and no clear direction. They said there’s going to be a season 4, by that point it will probably still be mostly about Stolitz.

I have never liked the fandom rivalry between Hazbin/Helluva and the Amazing Digital Circus, as Viv and Goose are friends, but it's definitely clear that TADC is a million times better written.

You know Thomas Andrews from the Titanic? The guy who stayed on the Titanic with the clock as it sank? I feel like I'm going through something similar, but instead, I'm desperately trying to bucket out the water, trying to keep it floating a bit longer. Am I an idiot for doing this? I don't know XD. Am I exaggerating? Yes, without a doubt. But hey, at least you have the funny image of a man trying to stop a boat sinking with a bucket as the water is up to his chest, and he's saying, "Everything's good! Everything is good. You're fine- you are so fine. Nothing's wrong. You'll float again in no time, just- STOP SKINNING!"

Honestly, Blitzo and Stolas seem like the only characters who actually develop in Helluva Boss. Moxxie though getting a lot of focus episodes is always stuck with the same arc with no real progression or payoff, Millie's only used for action scenes (mostly taking the ws of every Moxxie story) and being a support pillar to her husband and Loona's just there with barely any relevance to the plot.

It’s better because it doesn’t use swearwords as a crutch for its comedy. I know this is beating a dead horse, but it’s still is true to this day.


Let’s take a look at the amazing digital circus and one that makes it very funny

When Pomni is Grabbing a shotgun she is telling herself how she hopes the dead body doesn’t come to life and then it starts to talk saying “ OK I won’t”
Implying it was supposed to, but didn’t because of her request. That’s what makes it funny.


Blitz for the 500 278 time saying how he was fucking a bird is not going to cut it

Us Kinger fans are eating good with this one!

I know episode 2 wasn't great but there is a lot about Kinger that was foreshadowed there
1) Queeny being the room crossed out as his wife
2) Him staying in his fort because it is dark
3) His most lucid moment before this episode (his advice to Ragatha in episode 2) came with a bucket over his head, that being when it was dark.
4) His relationship with bugs, which also has a double meaning in literal bugs with his wife and computer bugs with him in computer science.

Ragging on Helluva Boss more. While I do think this episode tackled things like

Being uncomfortable and discontent with one's own body in Zooble.
The desire to understand someone else's problems and the frustration that can cause when you just can't in Caine.
And of course the tragedy of starting to lose memories you cherish and wanting to hold onto them as you get older in Kinger.

But you can make a great argument that what made this episode good was just little to no Jax. I still really hope the theory of him being an NPC is true because that's about the only thing that could make his character interesting to me.

honestly for hb, i only really watch anymore for the pretty visuals and like a bit of curiosity out of “how bad will this one be”. with tadc, i wasn’t completely sold on the series until episode 3. i LOVE the actual CHARACTER i’m literally so excited for the next episode cuz man this series is gonna be a banger (i don’t want to get my hopes up too high cuz last time that happened i got helluva boss..)

Helluva Boss is getting beat in the ratings by the show that was made by the same people that made Mario gets his PINGAS stuck in the door (SMG4). 😂

Another thing too that I also think Hazbin Hotel massively struggles with: TADC isn’t mean. It may have some mean spirited jokes and dark humor, but it’s never cruel to its characters. Pomni isn’t portrayed as pathetic or weak because she’s scared and constantly needs some kind of guidance, and Kinger throughout the entire show is never punched down for his insanity. The show still portrays him as likable and endearing. And Ragatha is genuinely kind, not like Charlie whose kindness feels performative.

I feel like if TADC was written by Vivziepop, Pomni would be a male character who’s constantly punched down on and she’d have a toxic relationship with Caine or he’s like, a metaphor for daddy issues. And then a majority of the jokes and humor are dedicated to Jax being a sexual predator with a super sad backstory about daddy issues (which funnily enough fans have treated him that way when the pilot dropped and then turned on him when they found out he enjoys being malicious and cruel).

But even when Jax takes it too far, the group adjusts. His cruel antics are funny, but so are the moments where he’s choked and tied up, he’s always knocked down a peg.

And like you said, things move forward. I was so, genuinely happy that the show kept addressing how Pomni treated Ragatha in episode one, I only wish they actually had an episode together before they reached that point, but it’s still such a sweet moment because I’m so used to helluva boss moving at a glacial pace and constantly relying on cliff hanger endings so people keep coming back. I feel like I’m actually being rewarded for noticing character growth.

I used to like Helluva Boss but I lost interest in it…It felt more focused around Blitzo than any other character. Like…I wanted to know if Loona was even going to have more focus in it but that’s not happening.

The Amazing Digital Circus honestly has me intrigued by its concept of new adventures.

Maybe vivzie is stuck on what she wants the series to be in season 2 and i hope that she relizes what she wants in season 3 (and hopefully for the better), i know season 2 is already set and stone but the series is not over yet, give it a chance.
