Monemvasia Greece | remake

🔴 EN "Monemvasia is a town and municipality in Laconia, Greece.
The town is located on a small island off the east coast of the Peloponnese, surrounded by the Myrtoan Sea.
The island is connected to the mainland by a short causeway 200 meters in length.
Its area consists mostly of a large plateau some 100 m above sea level.

It was founded in the sixth century, and thus one of the oldest continually-inhabited fortified towns in Europe.
The town is the site of a once-powerful medieval fortress and was at one point one of the most important commercial centers in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The town's walls and many Byzantine churches remain as testaments to the town's history."

Orașul este situat pe o mică insulă în largul coastei de est a Peloponezului, înconjurat de Marea Mirtoană.
Insula este legată de continent printr-un drum de 200 de metri lungime.
Zona sa constă în mare parte dintr-un platou mare la aproximativ 100 m deasupra nivelului mării.
A fost fondat în secolul al VI-lea și, prin urmare, este unul dintre cele mai vechi orașe fortificate locuite continuu din Europa.
Orașul este locul unei cetăți medievale odinioară puternice și a fost la un moment dat unul dintre cele mai importante centre comerciale din estul Mediteranei.
