Full press conference: Sheriff Grady Judd gives update on deputy who was shot

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said one of his deputies is lucky to be alive after a suspect aimed a gun at his chest and fired the weapon. The deputy was wearing a bulletproof vest and will be survive the encounter.

He also credits the St. Michael’s medallion that the deputy never leaves home without and the "good Lord" for saving his life. This is the second time in eight days that a Polk County deputy was shot in the line of duty.

I'm here in Ontario Canada and we've had 3 officers killed in less than 3 weeks which is so so rare just to hear 1 being killed in a year. It's mad out there and these officers are so brave to do what they are doing. My heart goes out to these brave souls.
