“China will pay for the tariffs” is the new “Mexico will pay for the wall.”

People always fall for the first clown that offers simple and fast solutions for complex problems, they always did, and they will do exactly the same for the next clown when this one is long gone.

In 2016 we learned a lesson, never let the lesser among us lead us. Too bad we didn't learn it for long.

If we produce everything in the USA, things are going to cost more. That’s just a fact. Labor cost are cheaper in many other countries.

More jobs for a country with low unemployment. Who is going to fill these supposed new jobs, especially when the people most willing to actually work are being deported out of the country.

The one thing people are not considering, is why these companies left in the first place, cost of labor and rent in the USA is expensive than the rest of the world. Companies that set up in country and manufacture their products here will pass that cost to the consumer who is already paying the tariffs and high inflation

Why not tarrifs to stop the unfair trade practices and companies leaving. Oh thats right the rich would be impacted.

Trump wanted to help American manufacturers compete against Chinese companies by putting a tax (tariff) on imported Chinese products, but if you listen to what he says, he admits that it never worked because he says they just lowered their prices to make up for the tariff that American businesses paid. Even if this is not true, he is still admitting that his tariffs had no effect because they were able to beat them. Therefore, his tariffs did not make American manufacturers have a lower price on those products. All it did was help the US government get more tax revenue. Also, China put tariffs on American products, so American businesses sold fewer things to China at their usual price or they had to lower their prices in order to sell things to China. He is admitting that the tariffs had no benefit because they can be beaten and that they didn't help American companies.

He still does not actually notice what he is saying. He thinks he is helping American products compete against imported products even though he says that they just lowered their prices, so nothing really changed.

Im a simple man who didn't go to college. Who pays for the tariffs, Mexico? Like they did the wall? When companies come back b/c of tariffs, does it make more jobs, or does America automate those jobs? Do we have examples of this working? How many jobs did it create? Please, someone tell me.

this could really get passed. trump has put a lot of "loyal" people in his administration this time and not neocons who would go against him.

the Chinese are very resilient they will adapt, not so sure if Americans can handle it, you cannot compete with Chinese labor costs. they will shrug there shoulders
and move on
