A Little Sentai Filmworks Haul

It's been a while, but sentai filmworks has been having some nice sales over the past few months, but I've also been gifted some lovely anime as well!

I sent Hakumei and Mikochi during the late fall last year which was great great timing to set up the perfect storm. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Can never go wrong with Lupin. Dunbine is known for its great dialog even if Garzy’s Wing is on the opposite spectrum. Glad to see you completed Gattacha Man. Laidbackers is fun.

Yay Val Haul!

Lupin Zero is the only Lupin thing I'm missing right now. It looks alot of fun and I love that they made it. Next Sentai sale order I do I'm definitely adding it to that. Part 6 I do have but have yet to put in, like you I would like to do that this year. Main reason I haven't is I'm still in this afterglow that Part 5 gave me despite it being 18 months ago now. It was so good and I don't want that to cloud my enjoyment of Part 6.

Hakumei and Mikochi is such a delightfully cute show. I love following these little fairy like beings and their tiny society but the subjects for episode involve them getting drunk while fishing, having neighborhood townhall like meetings, ghost hunts or just straight up fixing stuff. Just so much fun.

If you can fit it in you'll probably zip through Space Brothers. The movie is great. So hyped that this show is most likely going to finally continue now the manga is done.

Majestic Prince is definitely in the B tier of Mecha show imo, it was decent. Though others rate it much more highly like Dylan for example. It's sorta like a Super Sentai show but with Mecha which is probably why alot of people like it so much.

Sasami-san was on my 'to get' list for years but as my collection grew it never made it into that final order in a Sentai Sale. It is a SHAFT series so I bet it looks amazing. I would still like to watch it one day. Can't believe it's over a decade old already.

Laidbackers similarly I remember alot of ads for back then. Looks nice, I like the packaging alot. I often get it mixed up with Dragon Dentist.

Aura Battler Dunbine is a wild ride, it will probably surprise you where it goes. It's a beautiful looking show. The world of Byston Well is one of the stranger creations of Tomino but it's interesting. Compared to the majority of its peers the show really stands out with the fantasy setting. In hindsight alot of the characters give me Zeta Gundam vibes. Good call on the dub, it's a bit of a mess.
Sidenote - I really want to build a Dunbine kit one day, the bug like designs are so cool.

Alex Ross did the art for the ADV and in turn Sentai sets for Gatchaman, it's truly beautiful. There was a full size artbook released for it around when ADV did their release but it's nearly impossible to find now. The previous BD set came with a mini artbook I think. Looks great on Blu Ray and I love the dub they did for this show. I watched 30 eps along time ago and keep meaning to go back and finish it. It's amazing to have such a long show of this vintage fully dubbed. One of the best opening themes of all time too.

Funnily enough I've also been repeatedly putting off Lupin III: Part 6. Gotta get to it and this was a reminder lol.

Hakumei and Mikochi is one of my favorite Iyashikei series! I also highly recommend the manga for it as it has some of the most gorgeous art I've seen!

I loved Gatchaman Crowds (both season) since it was such a unique and quirky show, I assume the classic Gatchaman is very different by comparison.

I had a lot of fun watching Lupin Zero. It was fun watching him and Jigan interacting with each other as kids lol.
I still need to watch Lupin the 3rd part 6. I'll probably watch it soon hopefully.
Man, I always regret not picking up the Space Brothers DVDs. I always heard nothing but great things about it.
I remember watching a little bit of Majestic Prince but never finished the series. I think that's one of the mech series Dylan quite enjoyed.
Gotchaman cover art is gorgeous! Alex Ross did them. He is one my favorite comic book artist.
I picked up Dunbine on the sentai sale too. I can't wait to check it out.

Another great haul as always! adored Lupin Zero as well, don't feel it gets talked about enough and felt like a love letter to fans of Part 1.

Part 6 is great as well, not as much as Part 4 and 5 for me but it being set in England where I'm from (as I've mentioned before 😂), it was nice seeing the little details, one thing that stood out was seeing the store, Boots, in the background of some shots, the last thing I'd ever expect to see in an anime.

For reference if you don't know it, Boots would be the equivalent of a Drug Store I'd like to say.

Got quite the Lupin haul myself recently as well, 4 movies and 4 TV specials. Mamo, Prison of the Past and the two Detective Conan titles I've seen before and First Contact, Swallowtail Tattoo, Dead or Alive and Farewell to Nostradamus will be new for me.

Getting relatively close to owning all of what is available for Lupin on blu-ray now which feels so good to have.

I haven't heard of Hakumei and Mikochi before but it looks and sounds so adorable, I'll definitely have to check it out.

Gatachaman is a classic I've wanted to check out as well, the art on that set is lovely.

Sentai! 💚💚💚 Dunbine and Laidbackers always intrigued me, but I’ve yet to watch them. Majestic Prince was ~ok for me. Young Lupin DOES look fun as hell! And I’ll have to check out Sasami-San—never heard of it!
