Hire Antonio Pierce As Defensive Coordinator? | New York Giants Rumors

New York Giants are in full offseason mode and now could make the move and hire former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce as their next defensive coordinator. Before becoming a coach Pierce played in the NFL for nine seasons, spending five of those playing for the New York Giants. Pierce was fired by the Raiders on Tuesday after leading the team to a 4-13 record. Even though Pierce’s time with the Raiders wasn’t successful he is still regarded as one of the top defensive coaches in the league. The Giants could be looking for a new defensive coordinator soon as in 2024 they had one of the worst defensive units in the leagues led by Shane Bowen, who could be on the hot seat. Could the Giants make the move and bring in a former player to lead their defense? New York Giants owner John Mara on defensive performance in 2024 NFL season:
“Quite frankly, I didn't think our defense played very well this year at all. I know that when you have an offense that performs like that, you're putting more pressure on your defense. But we need to make improvements there. I'm tired of watching teams go up and down the field on us.”

I like A.P. one of my all time favorite NYG Middle Linebackers with Harry Carson, Pepper Johnson and Gary Reasons so yes as long as they're confident he can help turn the Defense around. I honestly would like to see Jerome Henderson get his shot though, that is who I wanted them to hire before going with Bowen last off season only because Coach Henderson is very familiar with the players already here and he can then use a coverage scheme uses guys like Banks and Flott and Phillips to the best of their Abilities and not some confusing Zone Coverage
