Three people were injured and one person is dead after a shooting on Friday night in Downtown Detroit, police say.

I live two blocks from the scene of the shooting. I don’t go out at night down here anymore and just three weeks ago. There was another shooting just outside my apartment building. This is getting more frequent. It’s too bad because it’s a nice place to be socially or rather it was.

Detroit has gotten so much worse.. when I went to Wayne state we could go out whenever near campus Martius and not worry, now people are getting shot in the head, in liquor stores, random street corners... wtf is going on...

I moved years ago, but starting around 2013, things started to get dangerous downtown. There's little police presents down there compared to other major cities and the lack of other things to do outside of bars and restaurants creates a place where folks just walk around drunk ready to get it popping.

Without police foot patrols, the sidewalks are essentially open to any kind of criminality. It's not enough to have cops just drive by once an hour.
