Idling a vehicle’s engine while sleeping the controversy is over. I do what I do.

I drove a tractor trailer up and down the east coast for a few years and spent countless nights with the engine running. I never had a problem.

To each is own Tim. I think you’re fine especially the fact like you said, you’re not in a garage or an enclosed area, you’re outside. You have the carbon monoxide detector, you’re good to go 👍🏻

I'm in the north so it's not that hot in summer. I sleep in my Odyssey with front and rear windows open by about a quarter of an inch. No less comfortable than a hotel room and big savings.

I fixed the Tundra and Forerunner "Horrible Gas Mileage" issue by driving a Sienna +PLUS+ I get more interior space to stretch out ! 🤣 !

Long haul semi trucks do it all the time sleeping in their cab over night with engine running for weeks on end. Your good. CO detector and your good.

LOL, The gas mileage you mention is about what I got had to pull a trailer to Wisconsin LOL

Hey Tim. A suggestion, hope you don't mind. With all the added idling I'd suggest one thing.
Oil changes at least every 5K and/or even 3K during months/trips when you're idling a lot. Why?. In time the piston rings will become gummed up, which leads to their failure, which leads to cylinder wall scoring and oil burning, or worse. If you want/need a link to a professional Toyota tech to back all this up just say so. I'm and idler too. Jer

I’d def do this in my Saab that runs fine but my old Taurus with the exhaust disconnected I’d def be afraid of CO. Course they make CO detectors for the car which is something Ill probably buy and use just to have cuz why not.

Never thought about a detector and I sleep in my 4Runner all the time. Guess I will be getting one. Which one did you get?

Hi Tim. Looking to enter and buy first box truck. Done a lot of research. DAT shows ability to do $10K a week OTR with stars and moon aligned. Question, what are the top 5 things that I should do to set myself up for success? What is the real/conservative weekly financial expectation should I have? Thanks Tim!
