I am very excited to share with you my collection of all the watercolor travel kits that I've collected throughout the years. I've made some of them myself and I have purchased and modified others. I hope this video provides you with some inspiration to make or acquire your own watercolor travel kits to sketch outdoors or on the go.

Please know that this video was not sponsored, all products were purchased with my own money and all opinions are my own.

I have the same issue. I have so many cute travel palettes. I don't even like being outside to sit for too long. lol

I believe in the Van Gogh sets the pans are sitting so far from each other for a reason. When you paint with a big brush, if your pans sit right next to each other you will contaminate one color with another. In the Van Gogh sets you have enough separation space between the pans to avoid that.
Your straw-brush is amazing. 👌😊💖

I watched your video while doing outlines for a painting. As I used the gum rubber from faber castell I had an immediate minblow because the case fits 4 halfpans and some sponge😂

You have some really interesting pallets. I have all of them but the pinata pallet and the small, clear, makeup pallet. I also have one that goes around my wrist, one I made from a cigarette case, and one with tiny pans I made from an eyeshadow case that holds about 40 colors. You can buy makeup brushes to cut down for travel-size brushes. They aren't great, but they work for sketching.

The beading can be avoided if you use the palette. the factory film on the plastic eventually wares off. But if you use toothpaste and clean your palette with a toothbrush, you will see that the beading will stop happening. Te pans are falling out of your palette, because they're pretty much new. The more you use them, you will notice that water will end up seeping through the sides, moistening the pans and making them stick. Also, Cotmans are harder to load a lot of pigment onto a brush, but they are definitely VERY pigmented and one of the best choices for student grade paints. There are even professionals using Cotmans, as they tend to have some of the best light fast ratings compared to other student paints on the market.

You could spray paint the insides of the Altoid tins white and then it makes mixing much easier. Also keeps then tins from rusting.

I used Yupo too! Great idea! No reason to have the mess of painting the mirror with enamel paint.

I love how you put the color chart on the outside of the tiny plastic! I never like to put a loose sheet inside!
Love this channel!

I love them too!!! I have made many and continue! I paint more with supplies I enjoy for sure! Also adapting to different sized travel bags vs in studio based on time/mood is helpful.
If in Canada there is a happy Canadian animal tin at Dollarama that comes with mini travel coloured pencils and has a white enamel inner lid, closes perfectly and perfectly fits pans with magnets added! The inner lid doesn’t even bead and is perfect as a sleek mini pallet; 15 cm x 11 cm and is 1.5 cm deep.
I have bought 4 now one to give as a present for a friend. Keep the coloured pencils too great in a travel case/purse!

Lukas is chalker than cotman. I have swatched ( and owned)watercolors from around the world. The frustration and the bang for your buck I don't think student grade is the way to go. After using lukas student grade you should love white nights. P.s. van Gogh got given to my 11 year old grandson..along with lukas, prima, koi( which I bought for palette.) If you like Japanese paints you will love old holland.
