One thing i didnt mention that I thought I had. Much of the extra power made by the S&S and Zippers cam could be due to another factor...to properly tune with a cat installed in the headpipe, the AFR should be a bit leaner than without to avoid overheating the cat. The leaner mixture could also have created an increase in the numbers. All this said...the manufacturers test their products and all we can assume is that they published the highest number they obtained in their testing with the stated equipment. Main point of the video is to illustrate again, how the cam specs effect the final performance and characteristic of the curves, and what each means. Hope you enjoyed it.

Personally, I'm going with the S&S for my 107. It offers a huge boost in torque and power over stock, but as my only mode of transportation and something I rely on 100% of the time to get anywhere, I don't want to overstress the shit out of the engine and worry about it blowing up after 30k miles.

I started following you about 3-4 weeks ago. For a guy who finds things like this incredibly interesting no one explains it better than you. You are a wealth of knowledge Kevin. Keep up the awesome work

I recently put the zippers 468 on my 114 with vance and hines power duels with harley street cannon slip ons. This really woke up the bike. The shop that tuned it said at the very top of rpm range it shows bigger injectors and air clean would provide better performance at that range. I bought the cam because of its mid range performance for cruising and also for using the bike in slow skills practice. Your explanation are great and if I get in your part of GA hope to stop by.

2018 FXBB with a TBR 2 into 1 for the past two plus years. So I've decided to S2 and have been researching torque cams. Best and most helpful and detailed video so far. With my intellect I did have to watch it a few times to get things straight in my head but ended up being a really helpful video. Thanks very much, top stuff.

Kevin...thanks for that break down. Looks like I made the right choice in cams 7mos ago. I have a 2018 Road Glide Special. When I bought it I had a HD Stage 3 build done basically bumping it up to a 114. Everything used was HD except for the headers which were FuelMoto Jackpot 2-1-2. I used the Screamin' Eagle 4" Street Cannons & Screamin' Eagle Street Tuner. I ONLY went this route for warranty purposes. Respectively the dyno showed 113.84ft lbs tq and 109.24hp. This past April my factory warranty expired and I decided to install the Zippers 468 cam, S&S adjustable push rods, S&S billet tappet cuffs and S&S high flow oil pump and cam face plate since I was already inside the chest. I swapped out the mufflers to Vance & Hines Torquer 450 then had it tuned using PowerVision. I ended up with 140.33ft lb torque and 122.94hp. It is a beast now. A torque monster that hits hard at about 2750rpm all the way up through 4000rpm. I mean it is a rocket strapped to your ass when you twist that throttle!!!! And the "thump?" Yea...you can hear it!! Lol. Can't complain with the performance of this cam. This bike now has 50, 500mi on it and gets ridden!!!! I don't beat the day lights out of it but she's also not treated like a queen either. Definitely recommend this cam to anyone who wants a good bump in torque.

I went with an Andrew's m460 in my 107, it's a cam that seems to get no love. I think it goes great and with only 2 degree overlap and 20 degree intake closing I'm still getting great fuel economy. Everyone loves the 475 but it seems to drink the fuel and only really makes more than the m460 above 4500 rpm.

12:10 Good to know! I'm in the minority of thinking my FXDR's exhaust and air cleaner actually look fine on the bike, so I left them on. Before dyno'ing the bike the Dealer URGED me to get a "less ugly" exhaust & air cleaner combo and showed their Screaming Eagle and Authorized Dealer Catalog (S&S, Vance and Hines, etc.) and said I'd be missing out on big gains if I stayed stock...I ignored their upselling attempt and bought an Intake Manifold instead. Imagine their surprise when my bike dyno'd higher than most other stage 2 114's they had done...

Had to watch it three times but the way he explains it, makes it understandable

Exhaust opening point at BBDC is an important factor in torque production. Lobe separation angle is also important. When looking at intake close as a torque factor lobe intensity is needed because we don't know the actual intake close, just at a .053" lift. Compression bleeds whenever the valve is not seated on the way up on compression stroke. Lift is relatively not significant when comparing these bolt-in cams with stock heads.Just my humble opinions

Excellent video explanation of how critical cam choice is. The M-8 motor HP is held back by low RPM operation. In your video building torque earliest and holding onto it longest, makes a very streetable, enjoyable bike to ride. Good Dyno numbers for a stock 107. Excellent video Kevin.

Woww!!! Such an awesome awesome explanation Kevin! I don’t find anyone on the Youtube explaining things so clearly as you do. I just subscribed to your channel. Count me as a loyal follower! I just wish you had included the SE447 cam as well. A lot of people whose bikes are still under warranty are forced to go with it to avoid losing warranty!! I had to use the SE447 in my 2018 FLHTK due to this very reason. Keep more videos coming in. Cheers!👍
