The Hoover Institution hosts Wargaming: Its History, Application, and Future Use on February 16, February 23, and March 16, 2022.

The February 16 session focuses on Wargames as Historical Data: A look at historical wargaming and the value and limitations of wargames in the archives.

The current military planning process includes a listing and discussion of assumptions, which leads to a list of intelligence targets, for scouts and other reconnaissance. Planners also come up with a list of constraints, which may be a closer match for what the panel means when they mention assumptions.
