Pandemonium! was the first game I ever felt excited for and wanted to play.
I didn't have a PS1 or Saturn at the time, so my mom's PC was the best bet, but it was not powerful enough for the game.
I'll pick up a copy of the game for my PS1 sometime in 2025.

Nice review. I really enjoyed playing Pandemonium I and II back in the day, , they reminded me of Shrek... The themes and the music, I guess.

I agree. After you finish the game, as the titles are rolling there's a trippy neon level. You played it?
I hit it while actually tripping when new on the 90's. Good review.

Personally, i would advise not to play with cheats. My first run through I completed the game with +31 lives cheat and maximum health upgrades cheat and it really did trivialise the gameplay and made it too easy, which as you said, makes the game an entirely different experience. The 2nd playthrough I used no cheats and it was way harder but it felt so good when I finally finished the level and progressed further into the game. I would advise using chests for the first run to become familiar with the mechanics and the level layouts and then the 2nd run playing without cheating. That’s just my opinion, though. If you are finding it too difficult and you find it more fun to play with cheats enabled then by all means go ahead and play it that way, but if you like a challenge, just know that completing the game without cheats is definitely possible. I did it and I’m not an amazing gamer.

Oh man, I just finished this game today and let me tell you I completely understand why you would have skipped the last bit of world 18. Fuck that bit. It took me ages to do, I think when you get picked up by the wind you should press up and right to keep height. But even then there's so much happening that it's easy to miss a platform.
