“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” ~Pema Chödrön

Wanna try breaking our cup-holding record? Watch to the end to see how long we lasted in holding them up 😅

I've also been contemplating about how we're easily distracted and how I want to distract myself because in silence I catch myself thinking of past mistakes and negative thoughts. I guess it was easier as a child since I had less worries. But I hope the tips in this video help me better acknowledge my thoughts in silence for I want to be in the present moment as often as I can. Wonderful topic to talk about, Sadia.

To put the cup down, I like to journal to just empty my head and put my thoughts on paper and they don’t weight me down as much. I don’t feel tired or exhausted mentally as much ever since I took up journaling and it has been very therapeutic for me

Such a great analogy with the glass! I’m sure a lot of people right now will value that 💜

This book has really a lot in common with the therapy I give to clients: ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It is derived from eastern philosophy combined with cognitive behavioral therapy and it's evidence based. I love how psychological therapy is finally using ancient wisdom to guide and help people. Even the cup exercise I do in a slightly different way :)
Second, I love how you display my lovely hometown Utrecht and my favourite place in the world, the Efteling. So this is definitely one of my favourite videos of you! Thanks!

I feel that the 'Lord of Form' and the 'Lord of Speech' are really just tools or processes that we employ to attach ourselves to the 'Lord of Mind' invariably. So, even when we pick up our phone to check notifications (Lord of Form), it's just a subtler way of overcoming the same uneasiness of reality for which people attach to the Lord of Mind (with drugs, lust, etc), albeit with a milder intensity.

Also, sometimes the visuals in your video are so good, that I tend to become oblivious to the message being spoken, and have to rewatch the video. Very interesting analogy and content!

this is crazy .. i can’t afford my car anymore and i honestly don’t even need or use it. The thought of giving it back has haunted me but it’s a heavy cup that i don’t need to hold as there’s no use for it anymore. I opened youtube and see this video .. i think i got my answer ..

I am so grateful that you uploaded a video on this topic! I want to let you know that since I followed your channel, you have brought so many positive changes in my life. As a person who have been always very critical, negative, and had a bad relationship with food, your videos had a great influence on me, leading to positive self-esteem. The encounter with you, Sadia, has opened the doors to a whole new world. Thank you for everything.
(I don’t know if your will see my ramblings, but whoever does I wish you have the nicest day ❤️)

One form of "stay"ing that I really recommend is having a conversation, and approaching that conversation with curiousity. For example, approaching anxiety by finding someone to talk to about it. Noticing what it feels like in my body, and notice which narrative it is trying to speak. Sometimes, if no one is around, you can learn to have this conversation with yourself, but friends are really useful. They can offer perspective and love when that is hard for our own brains to do

I don't know if it comes natural or if it's learned, but your ability to communicate so clearly with your audience is such a gift. This channel is often the first place I turn to when I need a pick-me-up. Like the audiobook you mentioned, Pick Up Limes is "incredibly refreshing...healing, gentle, and kind." Thank you, Sadia.

This video really taught me a lot. I actually am currently running away from completing an assignment through the lord of form. Just distracting myself, so I am gonna try to actually do it and stop procrastinating. Imma try to put the cup down. Thank you much for your amazing advice. And whoever is reading this, I hope you have a wonderful day!
