Yeah that chef is so right about tourists finding it so easy to blend in. It's partly cos the people and area allow for every type of cosmopolitan!

Starting in 1691, Nice was French for six years,
then Savoyard for nine years,
then French for seven years,
then Savoyard for 80 years,
then French for 21 years,
then Savoyard for 46 years,
then in 1860 Nice became French (for good?).

In 1871 political elections, the pro-Italian lists had 26, 534 votes out of 29, 428 votes cast. In response, the French Republican government sent 10, 000 soldiers to Nizza. They closed the pro-Italian newspaper Il Diritto and banned the use of Italian in public

Europeans who visit the west coast of Florida must think it's a 4th world country particularly in charlotte country but for sure in Sarasota to a large extent as well.

good video But Nice was never Italian ...

A lot of confused people in this video. Nice has been part of the Duchy of Savoy and the Kingdom of Sardinia, but was never part of Italy per se.
I wouldn't say Nice is very pretty, but it's a very interesting town.

Nice is a great French city but there are a lot of old people and not a big student community, 36 hours should pay a visit to Lyon ! :)

Savoy got its name from the Duke of Savoy, and later came under the auspices of the King of Italy. That is as Italian as you can get - unless you want to make the case that being under the auspices of the King of Italy makes you French, which is a hard case to make.

Just the Old Nice architecture of Italian vintage should suggest to you that there is an Italian-connection history, here?

I've visited 31 countries--including France. Nice is okay, but IMHO this video overrates the place. It's fine, but I'd rather return to the Hopfgarten region (of Tyrol) in Austria!

Nice sucks for nightlife. there is NO nightlife. at 11pm city is dead! And you  have to drive to Monte Carlo to have fun. Sucks.
