Toyota Promised the Stout in 21, then in 22, then 23, then 24. Now they’re saying 25, Blah, Blah, Blah.
I’ll believe it when of IF it happens.
But I got tired of waiting so in 23 I decided to buy a new 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs in White.
I was very specific on exactly what I wanted in the Last pickup I’ll ever buy.
23 came and went.
On 2/29/24 I finally found a “leftover” 23 and it was just what I was looking for.
Since it was a leftover 3rd gen, the dealership was really trying to sell it.
They added a Tri-Fold tonneau cover, running boards, an 8 year 75K mile bumper to bumper warranty, a car care pkg, oil / filter changes and tire rotation, for as long as I own the truck. ALL Free of charge.
The MSRP was $51, 848 and we bought it for $48K.
I’m retired and drive about 8-10K miles every year.
Toyota says to change the oil every 10K miles, but I’m old school and change it every 6 months or 5K miles, so I’ll have to pay for every other oil change.
I’m quite sure that after I’m dead my wife will still be using it to plow the 5-7 feet of snow off our private road and driveway until she can no longer drive or until her death.
Who knows maybe she’ll buy a Stout after her Outback wears out, but since we already have a pickup, she’ll either replace her Outback with another Outback or a Lexus NX AWD hybrid

Turbos are higher maintenance, add complexity and only offer better mileage if boost not used, defeating the purpose. Toyota bet against EV and is learning what that gets them.

NO TURBO’s PLEASE and a 6’ bed are a MUST.
An AWD with a hybrid would be Great.

Just bring back the body on frame Hilux in a regular cab and a 6’ or 7’ bed.
A 2.5L from the Camry with 209 horsepower and a 6spd manual transmission with a 4WD is good enough
