This is now one of my fav videos you have made. I love the journey you take to find such complex faults. Thank you for all of your hard work.

Sorin ... you just repaired a donor board

Amazing that you got this working after someone had cut out mosfets and bodged it about as much as you discovered. There are now far too many 'repairers' out there who try to fix laptops, mess them up worse that when they got them, then sell them on. Well done for spending the time on this.

On the label it says PD charging, it should work on usb c. It also happened to me that I plugged in the type-c cable into the type-a port. It fits like a glove. And shorts all the pins with each other and the outer metal. They were not thinking much when they designed the new connector.

Think you right, that board looks like it was used to salvage some parts for other boards, and that's why it ended up on job lot

I've seen some Zenbook and ROG with dual support charging port and type C (and ASUS provide both charger in the box), of course type C charger use lower wattage than the usual charger
200/230W vs 100W type C charger (if I'm not mistaken)

I don't understand the comment about the USB C port obviously not being usable for charging.the laptop. My HP ZBook Studio Gen 3 laptop, which is hardly a late-model machine, has two USB C "Thunderbolt" ports, with a thunderbolt icon. And that means, as I understand it, that they can be used for charging the laptop (or in reverse, for charging some external device such as a phone).

I immediately understood that he meant he pluged a USB charger into a USB C port that doesn't support charging, meaning there must be 2 or more USB C ports. However since there seems to be only 1 .. it doesn't make sense. He obviously didn't plug the barrel plug into USB C.

I have accidentally spilled some food water or something like that around the right area of the touchpad around the right down corner of it to be more precise amd i looked at tsome videos anout what's around that area and beside the touchpad things there is also hte battery and i tilted the laptop from its back a bit to make a drain like tilt that can help with the liquid draining down were apparently thers nothing there and im currently still waiting for the 24 hours to pass i only unplugged it from the mouse cooling pad and the ethernet also the charger and i cant remove the battery because it migth lose its warranty if i open it firstly idk if i have warranty for water related damages the spill wasn't too much of it actually maybe 10% of the touch pad was covered with the spill i cleaned it and right now im leaving it in a dry a pretty warm environment for it to maybe dry better and i was still wandering if that small spill somehow gets pass the what they claim to be a military standard graded and water resistant and the inclined and dry and warm environment the laptop is in right now still wandering if it can somehow get to the battery and that small plastic or whatever the battery is wrapped in that black thing and maybe idk do something so bad it might fry my motherboard?

Hello, I have same laptop and it’s not getting charged, 3 different people said it’s the motherboard, my question is, how much cost to fix it ?

Maybe customer has a usb charger from other laptop and put this one in this laptop, but if no power supported usb c, then it must be protected not?

I tell people if you try to fix it and then bring it to me, price is going double probably. If I have to fix the issue plus what you screw up.

It’s possible the owner tried using a USB-C charger to charge the laptop. I have an HP laptop that will charge via the supplied charger or via one one the USB-C ports using a MacBook charger. The USB-C port is bidirectional.
